Gorkamorka Trukk

by Gary James

Detail of Gorkamorka TrukkYou have found a TerraGenesis Easter Egg! This hidden page shows a little detail from the Gorkamorka trukk in the larger picture. I paint all my Dimboyz vehicles in the same manner. First, I assemble the model and add any damage detail that I want.

I model battle damage like this in two ways. First, I take a sharp craft knife and gouge bullet holes out by twisting the point into the plastic, and simulate scratches and cracks by dragging the sharp point sideways-on through the plastic. You can see this in the star-shaped bullet fracture above.

Then I light a match and burn the trukk! Be very careful not to overdo it or burn yourself, but softening the plastic and deforming it with your fingers whilst soft gives a great bent and buckled effect. That's how I got the bent ram bar in the trukk in this photograph. You might want to use a tool such as a lolly stick or file to bend the model to avoid burning your fingers and also so you don't leave finger prints in the soft plastic.

This done I then spray the whole model black. Then I drybrush with silver. Finally I add a thinned coat of red on top of the dry silver paint. The red isn't strong enough to fully mask the silver and you get a metallic red finish that I like. Highlighting the corners with silver gives a worn effect.

Finally I paint the details and add the Dimboyz double tooth glyph. Sometimes I paint the bullet holes and scratches in with black to accentuate them.

This model is a basic out of the box trukk with a stock-car style windscreen made from plastic sprue and car repair mesh.
