Curia Hostilia

route into her auspix. </td>

The 103 Dominions gathered gear and

started the long hump into the wasted jungle city Omni Primus

Main.

Omni Primus Main was once a great city of culture and knowledge.

Like many of the smaller cities in the system, Omni Primus Main was

built in the theme of ancient Rome with a Jules Verne twist. Public

buildings rose high into the air, built on massive stonework. Arch

work was everywhere but the once great city was now a shell of it

former glory. If only I could have seen it then thought the Sgt.

The Bulldogs, as known to fellow Sorita units, were on an

advance-scouting mission to provide realistic data on alien reports in

the area. The Bulldogs belonged to the Militant Order of the Broken

Heart; a, by the book, theological order of female warriors. The

Soritas had provided system stability for many years and this mission

seemed no different for the Sgt. If only things could be, as they

seem.

The Bulldogs advanced up a gentle, sloping rise toward an opening

cut along the pathway but strangely into the jungle like foliage. A

light fog settled in low lying recesses like thick gray soup and the

Bulldogs advanced cautiously. Sgt DeMarco scanned forward along the

dark path but nothing moved. "There should be something

moving," she mumbled to herself. A world this alive should not

have a cold stillness like this.

Sgt DeMarco raised her hand with fist gesture and the squad froze

in position. She signaled Corporal Amadon to her. The Corporal was

loyal and dependable friend, one of those friends born in adversity

and proven under fire. "How many times had she saved my

life?" DeMarco thought. "Six, no seven and I am damn lucky

to have her". DeMarco made a head gesture toward the top of the

rise and Amadon scurried forward with the cool efficiency that only

field experience can award. Amadon reached the crest of the rise and

peered discreetly down the far side.

A flood of childhood memories flashed into Corporal Amadon's mind.

She had lived near here as a child but that was before the Green

Flood. That's what the locals had called it; she called it before it

had been given a name. Orks were the official name for them. She new

them as the aliens who destroyed her home and killed her family an

eternity ago.

<td>Before Amadon loomed the massive, red monolith known as the

Curia Hostilia. Its feet rested in a sea of thick gray fog near

the edge of the city. The spaceport lay back behind us over the

rise and beyond the Curia stood the fragmented remnants of the

once great city.</td>

Gone were the days the skies filled with skimmer limos, loaded with

important people and bound for the Curia Hostilia. It had been a long

time since the Curia had be a place of importance to anyone except the

ground critters but Amadon spotted green movement...

It was payback time and she had a clip full of cash!

<td valign="top">I built this piece as part of a large modular

themed terrain set. I have built several modular sets before and

I decided to incorporate everything learned into this set. One

important difference in this set is that it is not geometric in

shape and size.</td>

In order to increase variety and enjoyment, I created a 6-inch

increment baseline. That means that all pieces are 6x6, 6x12, 6x18,

12x12, 18x36 etc… All the road, woods and water pieces are 6x6. You

simply place the major terrain pieces and fill in the other areas with

6x6 pieces. The Curia Hostilia (Senate House) is a centerpiece for

this modular set.
