Subterranean Necron Base was created by Thumper and came 3rd in our our Secret Hideouts / Hidden Bases Competition.
4 bases were created to suggest the existence of a hidden Necron base below the surface of a swamp. This terrain was created to be suitable for play with 28mm miniatures.
The 4 bases consist of:
1.Hatch-(6"x10"x9.5") Constructed out of a foamcore box base with a sculpey lid, corner pylons are heavy card and unit is fitted with LEDs. Hill is carved 1" extruded foam flocked with coffee grounds, and homemade flock. Sisal reeds, grass tuft vines and paneling nail mushrooms were added. Tree is twisted wire armature covered in sculpey with branches sprinkled with sisal snippets and flocked. Water is clear resin with color added and DAS stepping stones.
2.Reactor-(7.5"x10"x7") Created out of a parmesan cheese container that was sanded and painted. Metal fittings and tubes are sculpey, and the piece is fitted with LEDs. The base is sculpey flocked with coffee grounds, then homemade flock. Trees are twisted wire trapping 2" sisal lengths, sprinkled with sisal snippets then flocked. Sisal reeds, grass tuft vines and resin water to finish the base.
3.Communications Array-(3.5"x7.5"x4.5") The Comm Array was created out of a mixture of 20ga wire and sculpey then based on 2 squares of balsa. Coffee ground flock was added, DAS clay stepping stones, sisal reeds and resin water.
4.Vent-(6.5"x6.5"x4") Constructed out of 2 layers of heavy card. Tree is a tapered dowel with several layers of sisal snippets added then flocked. Sculpey knees, paneling nail mushrooms and resin water.
